Carmen Jost Eisenhauer
EMDR-Trained Clinician | Doctoral Student in Counselling and Psychotherapy
My Story
I respectfully acknowledge that I live and work as a visitor on the traditional territories of the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations. As a clinician of German, Scottish, and English settler ancestry, I approach this work with gratitude, humility, and a commitment to culturally responsive practice.
My professional journey began in music, with early training in opera before moving into music therapy, where I witnessed the healing power of connection, expression, and relationship. This path eventually led me into clinical counselling and trauma-focused work. I am an RCC, Accredited Music Therapist (MTA), EMDR-trained clinician, and doctoral student in counselling and psychotherapy.
I work with individuals navigating the impacts of severe and complex trauma, including developmental and attachment trauma, intergenerational trauma, and experiences related to war, displacement, and profound loss. I have experience working alongside First Nations clients and approach this work through a relational, trauma-informed lens grounded in cultural humility, compassion, and respect
.
I strive to create a space where people feel safe, understood, and supported as they process difficult experiences, reconnect with themselves, and move toward healing.
